Hours are spent contemplating the season, the angle of the sun, all the back-breaking work of sacrifice and experimentation. Each flower is visited again and again, given words of encouragement and caressed. Evolving from stem and leaf to arm and leg, they grow to become children with lives and thoughts of their own.
