There are mazes of memories,
Inside and out of our heads.
You might be shy with anxiety,
Or filled with the dreads,
Promises lost,
Confidence gets defeated,
Disgusted we feel,
When the boogers get eated.
A fortress of blocks,
A castle so tall,
Trust no one gets in,
We build up the walls.
Embarrassed by siblings,
In the games that they cheated,
Our guards were left down,
Protection is needed.
Teal and purple with envy,
Blue and green with joy,
We are infatuated with love,
For a girl or a boy.
I doubted this haircut,
My outfit is a shame,
I am guilty of jealousy,
Fear they don’t remember my name.
We say that we’re sorry,
When a secret is spoken,
Hope filled with sadness,
Our hearts will get broken.
I start asking myself,
I can’t find a remedy,
Is this truth or just lies,
My thoughts are my enemy.
We start in this world,
With a box that is empty,
We stuff it with dreams,
And disappointments a plenty.
