This piece is influenced by Norman Rockwell’s 1954 painting, ”Breaking Home Ties.” An adolescent boy chooses to leave his fateful companions and move toward the light turning his back on his dad in pursuit of something pure. Far faraway from the wishes of his family, in search of a better life where the force is strong and the future is bright.

A boy unaware of his true potential, his fate cast in thestars. His legendary greatness will bring forth a new destiny. A young man with a head full of ignorance and idealist thoughts of doing only what is right. A sense of karmic justice and the cosmic balance of good over evil. A son born to a mother that searched for a better promise. This young mother of two is lost in birth, and a trilogy is born. Born to a father trying desperately to make sense of his loss and learning that all can be taken from you if you are weak. This father nurtures the growth of darkness within him and gathers his pain to feed the hatred. He builds his empire with blocks of scorn and revenge. He directs every intention to crush all that oppose him.

It is this moment the fates are sealed and arms are lost, as their paths divide disappointing a father’s plan foruniversal domination. One will look to the future with hope and the other with confident ferocity. The boy will leave his true father in search of his rightful destiny. He will lead the balance of good in the war against evil. He will reject his lineage and strive to become the man his father never could be. The path will be long, and the odds are stacked against the young padawan. “Join Me” he asks, of anyone willing to fight for the survival of the rebellion. The Power of the Darkside compels him no longer.
